Alright I have a MacBook Pro Retina and I have partitioned the hard drive to install Windows 7. Dolphin ran almost perfect on Mountain Lion besides some lighting errors. So I installed Dolphin on Windows 7 because it has less errors than Mountain Lion. Well the lighting is fixed, but my computer is getting way too hot. It reached a max of 97° Celsius / 207° Fahrenheit before I shut it down. When I run Dolphin on Mountain Lion I reach a max of 62° Celsius / 145° Fahrenheit. Any idea what would cause this and how I can fix it?

Download the Software "Lubbo's Fan Control" and set the two fans to the highest rpm value (6000rpm)

This will help a lot. I only get about 75-85 degree Celsius!

There's also the more popular SpeedFan, and on the OS X side there's smcFanControl. http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php http://www.eidac.de/?p=134

For reference, my MacBook Air's CPU gets to ~200º F when running(/compiling) Dolphin under Mountain Lion. Hasn't ever shut itself off or anything, which is more of a perk from the way Turbo Boost balances clockspeed/temperature than anything.

Apple's laptops tend to get pretty damn hot, what with their aluminium shells and their fans connected to the CPU by a three-inch-long flat heatsink... I hear they've improved the thermal design in the Retina 'Books quite a bit, though, with those intake vents on the bottom and the quieter asymmetrical fans.

Yep, that's true. The new cooling system of the Macbook Pro Retina works quieter and more efficient.

I have no overheating problems with Dolphin. I also tried Prime95 -> all temps are fine, I never get more than 85-90 degree celsius.

because Macbook Retina is not a gaming laptop . You should buy Arctic MX-4 and reapply thermal compound
Most multi-media laptop run hot with Dolphin ...

85-90 degree celsius with Prime95 Wink

When I play with Dolphin, I get about 70-80 degree celsius. And I never had throttling so far.

Ether CPU is underclocked or Dolphin doesn't use Nvidia GPU but Intel 4000

There is an app called "gfxcardstatus". With this app, you can easily force OS X to use the integrated or dedicated GPU. So if the HD Graphics 4000 is active, switch to the GeForce GT 650M and you'll see, that the temps go up Tongue
