Computer freezes: Super Mario Galaxy 2 with HD textures

Whenever I try to play Super Mario Galaxy 2 USA with HD texture pack on my computer I get something like the following error message:

Unknown command. Dolphin Emu will crash now. Have fun.

and my entire computer just freezes.

Whole system freezes are nearly always driver issues. Make sure you have the latest nvidia driver version installed.

It may also be running out of vram - the stuttering before it dies may be it struggling to page on resources to the GPU and having to move other stuff out to make room. How much does your GPU have? Remember texture packs are stored uncompressed on the card (e.g. the file size of .png files is normally a *lot* lower than the size stored in gpu memory).
