Compression Question - Size Discrepancies

Hey, I'm new to the forums and not a forum kinda guy.

I am using Dolphin r7667 and recently got an lg 8164b to dump .isos with rawdump. As my example, I dumped my Luigi's Mansion and obtained a proper 1.35gb image. I noticed the compression feature on dolphin's main screen and decided to try it, after reading about its successfulness. I also saw the wiki button and went to Luigi's Mansion's wiki page (impressive that every game has a wiki by the way), and noticed that the game's true size without dummys is 157MiB. My compressed .iso (resulting .gcz) is 1.32gb.

This is where my question comes in. Why is my ratio so pathetic? I've heard others saying it works like a charm. Could it by my dumping method? Any help would be much appreciated

Your dump is a pure dump, this mean that your ISO have random garbage data (this is normal to pure dumped ISOs). What you can do is use GCRebuilder to wipe this garbage, and then, compress your ISO again to get the 157 MB size (this is the real data that the game files have)...

It's pretty rare for gamecube discs to have actual garbage data.
My guess is that the size reported on the wiki was placed there by someone with a pirated release from a warez group, which was improperly "wiped".

Check a hash of your (uncompressed) image against redump.org. If it matches, don't worry about it.

Thanks for the responses guys. Jhonn, thanks a lot for the software recommendation! I have found that doing a wipe on the original .iso causes dolphin to compress some of the crucial data out (or possibly the wipe is destroying it), but extracting the root and regenerating an image allows dolphin to compress it perfectly.

By the way, the wiki did report the true data size correctly for Luigi's Mansion.

It was probably the cache in user/cache. Deleting that would have fixed it.
