when u compress a wii game and decompress it it will just be a scrubbed version of the original. It you compress and then decompress a gamecube game it will be exactly the same as the original

Hmm, and what should Dolphin's decompress method then be good for!?!
But right, there seem to be a different ... at least NoClone (v3.2.61) doesn't detect the org and decompr as duplicates.

What I'm asking me and you is, if there is a (speed) difference in playing these different file formats? "Compressed" sounds slower...
but don't looks/feels like.

"Compressed" only compress the random garbage of the ISO, the files of the game are like still "uncompressed", there is no speed lost. For example, my dump of Luigi's Mansion originally has 1,35GB, after I've compressed it, the GCZ have 138MB, because the game data only use 138MB of disc.

Makes sense Smile

So the reason, why the iso trimmed files are smaller than the gcz compressed files, is simply that in the second case the random garbage is just compressed as in the first case it is deleted. Right?
