Using DSP LLE recompiler on Dolphin build 3.5-1031, the sound is pretty choppy in a lot of games. The worst are 3d ones like Zelda, Super Mario Galaxy 2, etc. Least problems are Fire Emblem, New Super Mario Bros.

HLE works in Super Mario Galaxy 2 but there's no music! Whenever I enable LLE my speed goes below 100%.. I'm sure that's why the sound is choppy. Can't do LLE on thread in Super Mario Galaxy 2 or it crashes. Doesn't help anyway.

Settings in audio are:
DSP LLE recompiler, DSP LLE on thread (in games that work), backend is DSound. Config has dual core, idle skipping on, 60fps framelimit (50 for pal), only 2x native w/ no enhancements (I can do Window Size of 1920x1080 and get good performance but trying to lower settings for sound, though).

Any ideas why it's this bad?

My system is more than good enough to run it:
i7 960 3.2GHz
HD7970
6GB extremely low latency DDR3

Been wondering how my Asus XONAR DX interacts with dolphin too if at all.

That's how audio with LLE behaves; if you can't get fullspeed it will stutter and sound choppy. You can 1) upgrade or overclock your hardware 2) use the OpenAL backend with latency or 3) try using the VBeam Trick (google it).

Your system is more than enough for games such as NSMB and Fire Emblem. But it's too weak to run SMG 1/2 with LLE.
Btw Zelda TP and Zelda SS don't necessarily need LLE. Sound is rather good with HLE. But LLE may help to avoid crashes and various issues

Hmm alright, thanks! Funny thing is, I get mild sound stuttering every minute or so in Fire Emblem and seems other games I can run with LLE at 100% as well. Even just idling there on the map for a minute at 100% speed, the sound will skip slightly. Not a big deal just a little annoying.. guess that's just LLE.

How much of an overclock would I need for LLE to run well? The thing that's confusing me is that my CPU usage never even goes above 30-35% for most games. A few cores aren't even being utilized. I've taken it up to 4GHz before, but it's not exactly stable. Hopefully I wouldn't need that extreme of an OC?

I suppose I'll play around with OpenAL too.

You'll likely need to go higher than 4.0GHz with that CPU for the Mario Galaxy games.
Asus Laptop: K53TA
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-Bit - SP1
CPU: AMD Llano A6-3400M, Quad-Core, 1.4GHz-2.6GHz (Overclocked)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD6650M, 1GB GDDR3 (Catalyst 13.1)
RAM: Samsung 4GB DDR3-1333

You will need 4.2GHz for i5 3570k , 4.4 or 4.5GHz for i5 2500k and 5.0GHz for first gen core I series
Note that Dolphin is a dual core application and Dolphin does not support Hyper Threading -> i7 = i5
