Cheats not working for any game!

I'm new to the forum and new to using emulators. So I hope the solution is simple and right under my nose.
My PC specs are -
AMD FX 8120 3.1 8 core.
Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 1.5gb Galaxy edition.
8gb DDR3 ram.
Win 8.1
So with that I know my rig can handle it.

Dolphin is one of the best emulators I have ever used period.
It works great and runs every game I ask it to.
The problem I am running into is, it wont run any game with "cheats enabled".

I have looked and have found no solution to this problem. If anybody could enlighten me on what I need to do or am doing wrong, it would be greatly appreciated!

Are you using a PAL game version (please specify the titles you hve tried)? PAL games have som problems with cheats.

No it's NTSC. The cheats that don't work are the Gecko Codes. The AR Codes seem to work so I'm using those right now.
I'm just curious why the gecko codes don't work! I would like to use them so I don't have to input each code myself. But if I have to, that's OK.
