Changing Wii game titles not working?

Hello, I'm new here. Just registered today to ask a question. Blush

I'm using 5.0, and I've seen (multiple) online tutorials about how to change the Wii game titles in Dolphin via the "titles.txt" method, but it doesn't seem to work for me, and I don't know why.

I've done everything step by step:

Creating a new text file called "titles" in C:\Users\[USER]\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Load
Typing in the text file "RZDJ01 = Zelda no Densetsu: Twilight Princess"
Then saving the text file and going back to Dolphin, pressing "Refresh", and nothing happens.

I've done this multiple times.

If anyone can help me, can you also tell me how to change the banner, and maker title, please? :3
ありがとうございます!

That's strange... I can't think of any obvious reason it wouldn't be working. I have one theory, but it's a bit unlikely - try putting "RZDJ01 = Zelda no Densetsu: Twilight Princess" on both the first and the second line of the file. If that works, I'll try to explain more closely what might be wrong. (As usual, the " characters are not supposed to be included in the file.)

You can set a custom banner by putting a PNG file with either the same name as the game or the name "banner" in the same folder as the game ISO. This PNG should preferably have a resolution that's a multiple of 96x32 (usually, 96x32 or 192x64 is used), but other resolutions will also work. But if you just want the standard banner for the game, the solution is simpler: Create a save file in the game.

Changing the maker title is not possible right now. (You can technically do it by hex editing the ISO, but that'll only let you pick from a pre-defined set of makers, so you can't get e.g. the copyright symbol you're showing in the image.)

Oh, thank you very much for your reply! Big Grin

Funny story, actually...
So, I created a new text file and did what you told me to do (put the text on both the first and second lines), and I reopened Dolphin and it worked! BUT, it was only after it worked that I tried to change the title to be in Japanese (ゼルダの伝説トワイライトプリンセス) that I found out that changing the .txt file format to Unicode was the problem (since you have to save Japanese text in Unicode format).

Apparently, Dolphin doesn't recognize Unicode, and not just the Japanese text, either; even English characters won't show up if it is in that format.

But, thank you so much for your help! It's all fixed now. And so is the banner, as well. Thanks again for that, too. c:
And, as for the maker, I suppose I'll just have to wait until they make that feature available. ^ ^

どもありがとう!

Dolphin does support Unicode, but only in the form of UTF-8. (The encoding that Notepad lists as "Unicode" is UTF-16LE.) If you are using Notepad to save a file in UTF-8, it will put a BOM at the beginning of the file that makes Dolphin unable to read the first line (at least when it comes to titles.txt - Dolphin can handle the BOM correctly when it comes to some other things, like game INIs). So either save as UTF-8 in a text editor that doesn't force UTF-8 to use a BOM, or save as UTF-8 in Notepad and don't put anything important on the first line.

Ah, I see...

Just tried saving it in UTF-8, and it worked. o.o
Now I know one more thing about Dolphin that I didn't know before, so thank you!

I guess I'm off to play games now! I really appreciate all your help, you've been so kind. Big Grin
