Change location for textures

Hi all,

My "My Documents" folder is on my OS SSD drive which is rather small. Is there a way of configuring Dolphin to look for custom textures in another location rather than C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Load\Textures?

Thanks

If you create a file named portable.txt in the same folder as Dolphin.exe, everything that's in C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\ will instead be read from the User folder in the same folder as Dolphin.exe.

If you want even more control over this, you can use directory hardlinks (junctions), and Dolphin will have no problem following them. Symlinks (shortcuts) will not work, however, so you'll have to do some command-line work.

Thanks both of you, that was very useful. (portable.txt worked fine for me)

What do I write in portable.txt?

Nothing. Simply make an empty file. Dolphin merely needs the file to exist.

Additionally, please see our rules about necroposting. This thread is over 2 years old at this point. If you're having trouble or issues with making Dolphin portable or changing the location to load textures, we recommend that you make a new thread instead of reviving one such as this.
