Hi everyone, thanks a lot for your work.
I tried to find answers in this forum, but nothing seems to work, so, all appologies if there is allready something about it :

I want to play Crash Nitro Kart, European version, in french. There are FR files in the ROM, audio, voices. No options ingame to change language. The game run in english, no matter what i tried :
Put "french" in the emulators settings (Gamecube, language select)
Put "2" in the file dolphin.ini (my documents). [CORE] LanguageSelect = 2
Put [CORE] LanguageSelect = 2 in right clic on Rom/Game properties

The game, texts, and voices are still in english.
I play on Windows 10 x64 the last beta version (5.0-11824) because I saw somewere that the stable version don't fix this. I tried also with the stable version, it does not work anyway.

Thanks by advance

According to redump.org, the GameCube version of this game doesn't support French. What this means is that, if the game does contain files for French, the game's code doesn't actually let you use them. I don't know why they would make the game be like that, though...

JosJuice, thank you for your answer. I didn't knew about that.
I tried something else so. I opened the iso with GC-Tool, and just rename the folder "fre" by "eng" (and of course before, the original "eng" by something else) in audio folder. It worked, voices are now in french : ).
But now I would try more. I'm new at it so I just discovered this *.sfd format, because videos are still in english.
So far, i know that audio is in it, eng, fre, etc. I may be wrong but what I want to try is to demux and recompile it, replacing again eng files by fre files and so on.
Do you think that it could be a good way, and if so, maybe you know some tools to demux/recompile sfd ?
I'm searching on internet since hours and I can't find anything good. Even to play it. It can be play with VLC, but with no sounds.
No tools, no players,... I'm a bit lost at the moment ^^'
Thanks by advance for your answers

The thing is that most sound files are in a container and encoded (and/or encrypted) in a non-standard format which can differ per game. That means that a tool needs to be written to extract the sounds and of course put them back in, but before that can be done it must be discovered what the actual encoder/encryption is and have that reverse engineered to something that we can understand.

So unless someone has already done that for this game the chances are slim you are able to do this... That is, of course, unless you are willing and able to put in the work yourself or will be able to find someone that is willing/able to do that for you.

Hi mstreurman, and thank you for your answer !
As you said, I was able to demux the sfd with vgmtoolbox, it gives me one .m2v, and five adx, wich I can play with vlc, I compiled video and audio with sega_dreamcast_movie_creator, and put my video back to the ROM iso, but when it comes to play it ingame, I earned a black screen. No error pop-up, but a black screen.

So maybe I did'nt set sega_dreamcast_movie_creator well to fit this game needs, maybe it is just impossible to "inject" my "custom" video and make it workin.

I searched too in the ROM's files with a Hexadecimal editor to see if there is something interesting, and there are some "language select" things in the main.rel file.

"ui/introdsc.datlang_setupintro_cont_chkintro_multilangintro_fadeoutintro_fadein1intro_fadein2language_sellanguage_list languageui/%s/ldict.dctsuccessreturn"

And so far, I have a question about all of that, because I don't know how it works : Could it be possible that there is, somewhere in the ROM's files, a key saying the game to reffer to ENG language by default that we could be able to change, pointing the language #2 instead of #1,

and that way, in this typical situation because voices and videos are allready translated "and" in rom's data, use other languages for voice and video's audio than eng ?
