Anyone out there know of any particular models that will read GameCube games?

I'd like to image more than Metroid to my HDD, but my new Plextor won't do the job.

Any suggestions for a drive that could image the games?

hmm. i wonder if you could burn games on those drives and use them on a real wii.....

Checkout my latest project ( it is a program that downloads and compiles dolphin on mac and linux now): http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu-downloader (It's unofficial and maintained by me, not the dolphin dev team)

Not finding any of those drive listed as available for purchase ANYWHERE.

BUT, I do have a bright idea. I have a host of older drives laying around, and I'll roll through them one by one.

Maybe I'll get lucky...

A DVD drive capable of reading Wii and GC discs
Only specific drives are capable of reading Wii and GC discs, obviously in addition to the drive you will also need it installed in a PC with proper drivers. At present the only drives known to be capable of reading Wii and GC discs are the following:

Hitachi LG GDR-8161b (IDE)
Hitachi LG GDR-8162b (IDE)
Hitachi LG GDR-8163b (IDE)
Hitachi LG GDR-8164b (IDE)
Hitachi LG GDR-H10NBLK (SATA)
Hitachi LG GDR-8082N - USB SLIM Portable Drive

Google it or find on ebay

Edit : burn it slowly with 2x speed

Ladies and Gentlemen, after reading the "Read Me" file from RawDump 2.1, I have a drive that works!!

Born in 2001, this gem is a GDR8163B, by Hitachi.

And all my old stuff is just a pile of JUNK!!

Ya' right! AND later on, monkeys might fly outta' my butt!

I have another GCE Hitachi, and I will test it later...
