Cannot switch compatible GameCube adapter to WiiU/Switch mode

Hi, I have a problem with a compatible WiiU/Switch and PC GameCube adapter. It has a single push button to switch between the two modes, instead of an actual switch.

I tried it with the Swith and the WiiU and it works perfectly fine, but the button seems to do nothing, apart from enabling the rumble.

Unfortunately I can't get it to properly work with Dolphin. When I connect it, Windows recognizes it as a generic HID device and I can actually map all the controls in Dolphin (except for the rumble). Tapping the button does absolutely nothing, which is strange since it should still be in Switch mode.

Zadig recognizes it as "GameCube Controller Adapter" and Windows shows the same name after installing the WinUSB driver, but Dolphin says there's no connected adapter, while now the 4 generic controllers are not available to map anymore.

The device identifier is "USB\VID_0079&PID_1846\GH-GC-001_T13B". Maybe Dolphin just needs to support this different ID?

Thanks in advance.

No, the problem is that the adapter is not in Wii U/Switch mode. Unfortunately I'm not sure how you would make it switch to it.

I have no clue. It simply works, both on PC and on Switch. Maybe it relies on the console issuing some commands first? It there a capture of the communication with real console available?

I disassembled the adapter and found out that the button is label HOME on the board. At least we know why it doesn't work. There's a pad labelled MODE on the board that's internally pulled high. Unfortunately, bridging it to ground does nothing. I also tried other points on the board but without success. I took some pictures in case someone is interested.
