Cannot get past start screen on select games (Controller inputs confirmed working)

I am having problems with a lot of Nintendo games specifically when trying to run them. They boot up OK, but when they get to the start menu, the emulator does not seem to be receiving any input from the controller. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the games, redoing my controller configuration settings, and also updated Dolphin to version 5.0. I have confirmed that it is not my receiver or controller causing the issue, because my controller works fine running other games in my library. Games I have not been able to get past the start menu:

-Animal Crossing
-Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
-Legend of Zelda: Four Swords
-Luigi s Mansion
-Mario Cart Double Dash
-Sonic Adventure Battle 2
-Simpson: Hit and Run

I have run these games in the past, but haven't played the emulator in about a year. But still after updating Dolphin to 5.0 and reinstalling these games, the problems persist. If any other info is needed, I'm happy to provide.

What controller are you using and what are your settings?

I'm having a similar problem but I'm using a mouse and keyboard as my controller and I don't have anything for Slot A or Slot B and the rest of the settings are pretty much their default settings.
