Cannot get GC adapter working, please help

So I purchased a Gamecube adapter to start playing melee again as I recently lost my gamecube. However, I cannot get my controller and adapter to work. I've tried the built in support, Vjoy, Zadig, and other manual attempts, and I'm only met with endless driver problems and no success. It seems that none of the programs can successfully replace the default drivers, if they even show up (sometimes the default drivers don't even seem to be present, and searching online doesn't work, I'm met with error code 10 which I cannot fix either). I've searched many help forums, watched videos, made posts on other threads such as the Smashbros and Dolphin subreddits, with no luck. So if anyone has ever experienced or helped with any similar problem, please help, I just want to play Smash.
