Can you have different versions of Dolphin with different settings?

Hi!

I have experimented with the VR branch of Dolphin, and while I understand that it's not an official branch I did run into a problem that I hope at least someone on here can help me with.

Now, the problem is most noticeable in FPS games, the gun is severely misaligned to the right of the screen and even if I could get over that the bullets do not go where the cross hair is. If it was just the visuals I could get past it, but playing like this is impossible.


My thinking is that what is happening is the game rendering like it was played in VR, but only the screen it would show to one eye. Maybe someone has experienced this and knows how to fix it?

Otherwise my thinking is that I could have the normal Dolphin branch and the VR branch installed and separated, like they take their settings from different places. Is that possible? And if so, how would I go about doing that? ¨¨




Thank you very much in advance! I realize this is a very niche problem, but I'd hate to have to remove a version of the emulator because of this.

Yep, you can.

If it still works how I remember, create an empty file called "portable.txt" next to dolphin.exe, it'll create your user config, saves, NAND and all that in the same folder as your dolphin install, effectively isolating as many versions as you like

Oh, cool! I'll give that a go, would be great! And very handy for other reasons too because in the past I've lost save files and game configs with reinstalls or new computers because I forgot to save that documents folder. Thanks!
