So am I. You'll be able to play a lotta games except the most demanding ones. For example Metroid games and RE series will be slow (above all if you wanna use LLE)

OK so I'm planning to get the AMD Athlon II X4 640 (AM3 socket), and replace the heatsink to be able to OC to 3.8GHz without problem (I could squeeze in 3.9, but I'd rather not). What about now? Have to add A reliable heatsink for 20EU though (to make my build just under 300EU) so I went with the Cooler Master 212 EVO. CPU price exactly the same.

@3.8GHz will it run the Metroid series? I happen to like them.

You're wasting your time with that CPU. You're going to find that you still can't run games fast enough and then you'll have to get something better, again.
Asus Laptop: K53TA
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-Bit - SP1
CPU: AMD Llano A6-3400M, Quad-Core, 1.4GHz-2.6GHz (Overclocked)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD6650M, 1GB GDDR3 (Catalyst 13.1)
RAM: Samsung 4GB DDR3-1333

Why wouldn't it be able to play games fast enough? The CPU only costs me 70EU. You people said I would need more computing power, well now I have it right? BTW @ the i5 2500k remark, that CPU mixed with A good motherboard that runs @ 4.4GHZ would require A heatsink that is 60+ USD, or A case that is 50+ish USD and atleast the evo 212, which will add up in cost. Not to mention the CPU/MOBO combo would be atleast 300USD) If you don't have the i2500k, or haven't tested it you shouldn't be suggesting it to me.

Because the CPU is not fast enough.

I know. You want to get off cheap and then still expect to play games, it doesn't work that way. If that was the CPU to have, everyone would have it and no one would be recommending anything else.

No, not enough.

It's not our problem that you can't afford what's needed to play games well. You asked if your PC can play games well, we/I said no, we then told you what would play games well. What you do from there is up to you.

So, get your Athlon II and then come back and post a thread about games running too slow, I'll be here waiting.

I don't get it, how do GC games need higher clockspeeds than some of the most CPU intensive games out there? It's not because it runs on A single core or anything, like MC. Also I would like to add that I have searched through the forums and yet have not found A single person with A 4+ GHZ overclocked set-up. Are you expecting I want the best of the best? Because I do not.

For some reason my post is not shown. I will simply type A new message. You say games will run too slow, you have A 2.6 processor on OC. This one is 3 on stock, and is also A quad-core CPU. Also I've checked the forums and have yet to find someone with A OC over 3.8GHz, so will that mean that all of them are playing too slowly?

Dolphin doesn't support quad core and AMD do not OC that well . This :
Pentium D << Athlon X II = Bulldozer << (20%) Phenom II = Pentium Dual Core < (5-10%) Core 2 duo < (10%) Core i series 1st gen << (20%)Core i series 2nd gen (clock for clock)
Get Phenom II instead of Athlon though Phenom II is nothing compare to Core i series (Again , Dolphin doesn't support quad core)
Laptop: (Show Spoiler)

Mini PC :: (Show Spoiler)

Wow such A simple answer, and one person that tells me this. Thank you. I have just the right CPU for that, it will ofcourse cost me A bit more (10 euro's extra for the CPU and another 8 euro's for the MOBO). Bringing my rig cost to 315 euros. Going for:

Mobo: Asus M5A78L-M/USB3

Cpu: AMD FX-4100 @ 3.6GHZ stock

Changed the case to A full ATX one, one less casefan support same price.

The CM Evo 212 should be able to cool the FX-4100 fine right? I do hear the 4100 uses quite allot of power.

I am actually liking this build more, for A very low add on cost Smile

Edit: BTW the CM Elite series PSUs are very bad, it might look like not A big deal @ the start but it could take out half of your system, and you will inevitably pay more for your yearly bill. I could explain to you how it works, but I think I would need 3 pages to explain why you should buy A certain PSU. You should look it up, A PSU is important Smile!
