Can this laptop run games well?

i find it on ebay ,it's a MSI cheap gaming laptop with speedboost button 15%CPU,you can find it on http://www.notebookcheck.net/
good graphic doesn't mean to dolphin,i changed my graphic card (to beast) but the game still not faster cause of my CPU Dolphin use more CPU than GPU Tips: the best laptop run SSE4.1 or SSE4.2 Don't know about lenovo "gaming laptop",if CPU under core 2 duo 2.4 that must be slow and will it detect SSE4.1 ?(SSE4.1 use PCSX2emu to test) Laptop: Mini PC :: 01-16-2010, 05:01 PM

I assume that's why mrguy45 is asking if it will run Dolphin well in the first place. I don't think SSE4.1, SSE4.2 or SSE4 will make any difference in Dolphin as I do not believe it uses more than SSE2 instructions. Although I could be wrong, it doesn't matter because the T6600 supports SSE4.1 anyway.

That's right ,dolphin fine without SSE4.1,i only ask for pcsx2 but forget it .Anyways the gaming laptop design must stable for game than the others although gaming laptop only play around 2 to 4 hours.MSI weight lighter than Asus Ul50VT(same price) ,MSI 2.2 Kg

The Lenovo Y550 is in fact, a home (their IdeaPad line) multimedia computer that can play some games. Just because they are known for business computers, doesn't mean they can't use parts that can play mid level games. And besides, 0.2 Ghz per core (it might have a better FSB or Cache, but you didn't list those) is not enough of a difference for me to get a lower quality graphics card (not to mention other things). I plan on playing some computer games on it, too. Actually, most laptops under $700 with Core 2 Duo use Intel's Integrated Graphics. I found one with a GT 240M from Lenovo. That's why I'm getting it. I'd take that over an MSI from Ebay. Not to mention that I can relatively cheaply buy a 3 Year Accidental Warranty from Lenovo. Having my computer last 3 years guaranteed even from spills and drops is IMO, much better than an Ebay computer with a slightly better CPU.
PS. 2.2 Ghz is not slow. And if we are talking about "gaming laptops" here, well, the graphics card will be the bottleneck in all other games. PPS. From what I've heard, Dolphin will run the games I want to play fine. PPPS. Remember, I wasn't getting this solely to play Dolphin. I saw a great deal and wondered if it could play Dolphin. Dolphin was just a bonus. Apparently it can run it, so that's enough for me. /thread 01-17-2010, 10:17 AM

That wasn't there when I last checked... I'm checking it now. Oh, no. That was the Y550p ("p" meaning preconfigured with extras) that has that (although it is still is listed on their site with a GT 240M card. I'd have thought they'd upped that too). Way out of my price range. They even have version of Y550 with Intel Integrated Graphics =/ Weird, I know. BTW, they put computers on sale each week (I think a different Y550 on sale each week too), so I'm just waiting until it comes around again to the level of Y550 that I want at a good price. Also, I was googling and I found someone on an emu forum with practically the same CPU, GPU, RAM, and OS as what I listed, except built from Acer, and he said he can get full speed on any GC game, and ~45 FPS on Super Mario Galaxy. That assures me the Y550 is going to be far more than I dreamed of getting out of a laptop on my budget when I started searching for a laptop weeks ago =D BTW, was your CPU AMD or Intel? 01-17-2010, 05:45 PM
Glad you're happy with it, hope it works out well

Yes, you can run all games well if you always download the newest build (they optimize the builds)
