You can try Wiimmfi servers, but it got harder to use Dolphin with them...
Avell A70 MOB: Core i7-11800H, GeForce RTX 3060, 16 GB DDR4-3200, Windows 11 (Insider Preview)
ASRock Z97M OC Formula: Pentium G3258, GeForce GT 440, 16 GB DDR3-1600, Windows 10 (22H2) 08-07-2015, 08:57 AM
You need to dump a NAND from your Wii and install it to Dolphin, patch the game (either with homebrew that does it automatically or by actually modifying the ISO) and try to connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. (Note that you will encounter an error on your first login. You will need to wait 7 days before you're able to play. This is supposed to make people who cheat online's lives more harder.)

As mentioned above, getting on the Wiimmfi servers is a bit of a chore; you have to make your own backup file of TvC. Then that file has to be patched with Wiimm's iso tool. Once up and running, you have to wait the 7 day period to be activated. Then, if your copy of Dolphin runs lower than 60 fps, you will be permanently banned. Fortunately President Magikarp has started a steam community for Dolphin users to connect directly: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/TvCUAS 30 members, 9 online right now, 4 in matches. Pretty good for a near dead game lol More here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/tatsucapu/
Is disabling EFB access to CPU, ignore format changes, and EFB to texture really necessary to play online? I usually leave those off to have the most accuracy and compatibility.

No, I don't think so. (If you're using Dolphin's netplay, then all the settings should be synced with everyone else's to prevent desyncs) There's really no need to mess with the settings for compatibility right now since Dolphin will automatically apply the correct settings (if needed) to play the game.

Then do I really have to convert it to an ISO since dolphin reads wbfs files just fine and does the rom directory really matter?
