Can't use frameskip shortcuts when using Gamecube Adapter

As the title explains, I can't use any shortcuts for disabling and enabling the framecap in games when using the Official Nintendo GameCube Adapter. I've tried switching multiple units for the shortcut, as well from the default TAB to a multitude of other keys and buttons. Nothing worked. This makes some games rather tidious since some have long cutscenes and slow starts you just wish to skip by. If anyone has found a way to work by this please tell! Thanks.
