Sad
Unhappy times! I know there's another topic like this, but I decided not to hijack it. There I am, playing FE Radiant Dawn and having a grand old time, just FINALLY made my way to Part 4 on Normal - and now I can't save normally anymore. I can use savestates to keep progressing, so that's not an urgent problem (barring any future incompatibilities), but I... sort of want the clear save afterwards, so I can unlock Hard mode. Help?
I have gone through many development versions, which I suppose isn't the most clever move. (What can I say? I'm enjoying the heck out of the Vulcan renderer. Experimental, my foot; it's been rock solid as long as I've used it! Give your code to EA/Dice!) The last time I was able to save normally was, if the save file's time stamp is any indication, February 20th.

(The save file I'm referring to is located in /Wii/title/00010000/52464545/data, a .dat file.)

If you're saving between save states and using the normal saves to the memory card, that that can break saves with a lot of games. When you restore from save state, it can change configurations that the game is looking for since your last memory card save & mess things up. So you'll either have to just rely on save states or just save to the memory card. But you can't do both. Keep in mind save states often break between dev builds. So when you update Dolphin, your old save states usually won't work with it. So it's more reliable to just save to the memory card

... This is Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn we're talking about here. Fair enough, though, the game does have Battle saves. I suppose I use save states in the exact same way that the Battle saves are meant to be used, so using them instead shouldn't change things too much. No tips on how to restore the use of proper saving, then? I found this 'Export Wii save' menu item; maybe that's something I can play around with?

Start over from the last proper save (i.e. not savestate). That's the only reliable way I think there is, unfortunately.

It won't help with this.
