I got a new computer, I want to play SSBM and F-ZERO GX in 1080p and unlock the japanese exclusive parts for F-ZERO GX, but my DVD drive doesn't support rawdump, and I heard that there are a lot of defective rips of F-ZERO GX Angry out there so I don't want to play those(the custom parts glitch that seems to be fixed by ripping the iso off a legit copy). So should I download the games (even though I don't even know what version of SSBM I have) or should I just wait for another solution?

Downloading games is against the rules and gets you a one way ticket to ban central, read this thread and make sure your drive is supported http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/showthread.php?tid=2900

I think that downloading an ISO from a game that you legally own isn't piracy...

Here in Germay it is piracy. Doesn't matter, if you have that game or not.

Anyway, downloading games is illegal.

Is format shifting called piracy in Germany?

you are getting(and uploading depending on how) a copy of copyrighted material which you did not pay for. thats piracy by alot of countries' laws.

That's a different matter. My question was: if you have the game (paid for), and you want to move it to a file that you can load in Dolphin, is that called 'piracy' in Germany? I understand piracy to be the distribution (and receipt) of unauthorised copies. Format shifting, etc, is now being offered as a cloud-based service by major corporations in order to support mobile devices.

In Germany it's allowed to make backups for private use...

In Austria however, the ISPs give a **** about pirating, cause it takes like one week for the police to get proves that you pirated something and the main ISP here deletes the cache data (IPs you used etc.) two times per week so they can't really do something...
