Can't get Xpadder to work with Dolphin

I have both a PS2 and PS3 controller, and originally tried to get them both to work with Dolphin using MotionJoy, plugins etc. That didn't work but I wasn't too bummed because I figured I would just use Xpadder instead. I have some experience using Xpadder and I usually can get it to work the way I want to.

So I set the input to Keyboard for my emulated Wiimote and configured my Xpadder settings accordingly. But when I started up a game in Dolphin, nothing would register at all. I tried it on different games, same deal. It's like Dolphin is not acknowledging the input from Xpadder at all.

When I push the keys on my keyboard they work, but not when I push my controller keys. I have checked that Xpadder is running and that the analog is set correctly.

I'm not sure what is the problem, but I would like to get my controllers to work with Dolphin. I have a real Wiimote but I can't use that as my computer has no internal Bluetooth device.

Can anyone help?

Sounds like your controllers simply aren't working. To ask the duh questions, what is shown in the device dropdown in the emulated wiimote settings? Does this controller setup work with any other emulators or games?

Also, you should ditch motion in joy. There is a better alternative now.

That implies the controller is working. because in order to assign button in xpadder you have to press them. Sounds to me like the keyboard interface for dolphin in not reading your keyboard. The question to the devs is , are they using raw input? If so, that wont work because xpadder just sends key codes to the OS. There maybe an option in xpadder to get around this but I'm not sure of what it may be.

If dolphin response to your keyboard but not the xpadder virtual keys pressed, then that is in fact the issue.

at a quick glance it looks like it should work, did you try and of the many instruction in the matter? Here is one on youtube but the text pop ups are in Spanish.

Enable background input may help, but seriously, the most sensible way to do this would be to just load a separate controller profile in dolphin for each controller you want to use. If you use XPadder as an intermediary, then you get issues like this and also lose any analogue input, making some games a lot harder.

I actually managed to solve the Xpadder problem (was a long solution that I don't want to relate here) but the other options also look promising. I'll take a look at them.

In any case, thanks for the help!

Wouldn't mind hearing what you did to fix it, as I am having an identical problem.

Using a wired Xbox 360 controller, that works fine with all other games. I typically use Xpadder to map the buttons on the controller, just for some reason Dolphin does NOT pick up any input from the controller, no matter what I do, using Xpadder or not.

Game recognizes keyboard fine, but will NOT recognize any input from controller.

This is super annoying.
