Can't get Wiimotes to work with Dolphin on Linux

I've been at this for almost 4 hours now.

I have tried 3 different PCs, all Arch Linux x64, 2 of them GNOME, one of them KDE. I have tried with 2 wii motes and 2 BT dongles.

I can start the bluetooth service to enable the dongle and then I can try using refresh/continuous scanning in Dolphin and the dongle LED lights up.

I can pair the wiimotes with bluetoothctl and use xwiimote to see that it indeed captures all the input it's supposed to. It just won't pair with Dolphin(before or after pairing with bluetoothctl).

I think I've exhausted all my resources now, I have tried using current build of 5.0 in arch repos(which didn't specify build version) and self compiled 5.0-103.

Any help or hints welcome, thank you!
