Can't connect to freinds Netplay game

Hi, forgive me if I'm being an idiot but it's my first post.

Prior to a month ago, I could play Melee online with anyone I wanted to and anyone also had the ability to join my game. It generally ran at like 60fps and it worked really nicely. About a month ago my ISP (Time Warner Cable) had switched my modem because we went through an internet upgrade to increase my download speed. Ever since then, I haven't had the ability to join netplay games or host like I had been before. I also tried playing Project M online with a friend and that didn't work either. There was one moment however about 5 tries later where we tried and it worked. I disconnected because I had to change a few settings, and then when I came back just a few minutes later I couldn't connect yet again.

I hit connect and the option gets grayed out, then after a few seconds it disconnects. I tried resetting my linksys router to default settings but I really have no idea if that meant anything. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance!

Just a quick update:

Sometimes (1/10 times?) my friend can join if I give him my ID. Then sometimes afterwards I can join his game. I went into my routers settings and forwarded some ports and also went under DMZ or whatever and enabled that.

Your new router isn't working with the UDP port break of the dualcore netplay branch, I'm guessing? If you're not using the dualcore netplay branch, you just want to port forward as usual and it will work.

Which ports specifically? Sorry about the newbie response. Also, even though I use Dolphin 4.0-652?

in 652 of the Dualcore Netplay branch, you set the port in Options/Configure and go to Netplay Listen Port
