Pre-4.0 versions had an option to enable 3D Vision. Yet newer versions - not sure if starting from 4.0, or some time before that - lack that option. Can anyone tell my why? And is there a way to play games in 3D, other than using an old revision?
And if not, does anybody happen to know how reliable the old option was? If not, then I'll just give up on 3D rather than waste money. (I understand that older versions are not supported anymore and all that, so I don't expect a full guide to get 3D vision to work, with various troubleshooting, for an old build.)
If that matters, I have a GTX 680. I'm not yet sure which monitor I will get, but I don't think it should matter - does it?
Thanks!
Yes you can using the fix in from this thread 3dvision works in dx11. Though I can't seem to change Convergence so 3d isn't optimal.

TriDef also works, however if you have a 3dvision specific monitor/glasses then Tridef won't work (it needs side by side or top down support from the monitor to work on nvidia graphics cards)
What monitor you get does matter, If you buy a 3dvision monitor then that's all you can use. A 3d TV or TriDef supported monitor will also do 3dvision if using modified monitor drivers with their supplied glasses. Using 3dvision kit on an unsupported monitor will not work.
I have a Samsung S27A950D Active 3d monitor which came with Samsung branded Tridef software and glasses, it works with 3dVision
Also a Sony KDL-50W685A Passive 3d TV which also works with 3d vision using modified drivers.
Out of the two, the TV delivers the best 3d experience with almost non existent crosstalk.
