C stick keeps getting confused with L button?

I've been having this issue where for some reason my l button is randomly assigned control of the left and right axis of my c stick and vice versa. I fix it and it works but usually the problem comes back up after a while and I have to fix it again. I'm using a mayflash gc controller adapter on windows 8.1. Any tips on how to fix the problem for good?
