I checked out the hardware thread, so it looks like an intel core i7 extreme edition would be a good choice. Currently I can't run games with LLE audio, so I figured I want a new computer, I might as well get something that will make it work!

I didn't see anything about GPU or video card, is there anything I should look for?

Also I REALLY want to get into 3d gaming. How do I make that work? I need a monitor (I plan on getting a 40 inch+ flatscreen TV) that supports 3d I guess, and a video card? Anything else special? How is 3d gaming on Dolphin?

Anything I'm missing? I plan on getting Windows 8, that shouldn't be a problem right?

Sweet, thanks for the info guys. I def want to get 3D on my TV, but I'm DEF getting the Oculus Rift at SOME point, maybe once some reviews come on. So Dolphin will be compatible with the Oculus Rift??? Wow, perfect for games like Metroid Prime.

Try looking at this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFy-JKPhbOk he plays with the oculus rift so you might get a clue as to what it's all about. And this is the thread for oculus rift development https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-oculus-rift-support?highlight=oculus+rift

If i was you , i would rather get 50" TLC 4k ultra HD LED TV(1000$) or 39" Seiki 4k UHD LED (700$) or 50" Seiki 4k UHD LED (1100$) than 40" 3D TV with lower resolution (1080p)
1080p = 1920x1080
4k res = 3840x2160
4k TV obviously give you sharper / smoother image . The 39" Seiki will give you the best image quality though it still can't beat Asus 31.5" 4k IGZO monitor (not even close)

It has poor specs (response times, color accuracy, gamma uniformity, static contrast ratios, etc.) and it's from a no-name brand. Sony is the only company making 4k TVs with good specs. right now and they're still outrageously expensive. I'm afraid 4k is still a few years away from prime time at best.

Which "hardware thread" did you look at?

Both the GPU and GPU threads are stickied:

Depends what type of 3d you want.

You need to find a game that supports your desired method of 3D. You need a display that supports it. You need an interface (cable) that supports it. You need a graphics card that supports it. And of course the glasses.

3D gaming in my opinion really is a cheap gimmick that I'm confident you'll get tired of pretty quickly. But if you absolutely must have it I strongly advise getting a 3D monitor instead of a 3DTV. Getting games to work in stereoscopic 3D with 3DTVs tends to be much harder and it's less likely to be supported at all. Not to mention the limitations of HDMI restrict you to either 720p or 24 fps.

Hit or miss. The quality of the effects varies from game to game. 3Dvision breaks constantly (not really an issue if you stick to the official builds) and anaglyph was removed years ago.

No and no.

Don't get your hopes up. The developer completely disappeared a year ago and hasn't been seen since.

The OR has more to do with VR (virtual reality) than 3D. It's expensive, will have extremely limited application support compared to stereoscopic 3D, and will be restricted to an extremely low resolution on a very poor quality display. The head tracking is the main benefit it provides that conventional stereoscopic solutions do not. If you don't need or want VR there is no reason to buy it just for 3D.

I'm hoping in 18 months I can get my hands on a 32" 4k TV for less than $500. Angel
