Couldn't quite find out for sure digging around in the forums, and I may be missing the obvious, but...

As for as Dolphin is concerned is there any difference between using a normal Wii remote with the motion plus addon, compared to a newer Wii remote with it already built in, or are they recognized by the software exactly the same?

Hey BrandEx

They are considered by the software for what they are:
Wiimote with (builtin) motion plus would be recognized as a wiimote with motion plus where as a normal wiimote would be recognized as a normal wiimote and wont give you the possibility to play games such as skyward sword which require the wiimotion plus.

Hope i've been of some help.

Regards

I was comparing to standard Wiimote WITH the addon. I am assuming they are functionally the same as far as Dolphin goes then. I need to buy a controller, with Dolphin specifically in mind, and wasn't sure if I should be certain to only get one with built-in motion plus or if I could just find a normal one and add the adapter to instead and it would be just as good or not before purchasing one.

I use the addon for the Wiimote and it works perfectly. They'll function the same, so don't worry.

There's a newer generation of Wiimotes introduced since all new Wiimotes were Wiimote+ which doesn't change the function, but makes them a hell of a lot harder to connect to non-Nintendo hardware. When done properly, there isn't really a problem now dolphin has adapted around Nintendo's awkwardness.
