Hi Guys,

I'm wanting to build a standalone Dolphin Emulation machine to hook up to my loungeroom TV. I'm trying to create a build that would work out cheaper than an actual Wii Console (otherwise this build's whole purpose is defeated!) as my actual Wii is in my Family Room and gets quite a bit of use from the kids, so I hardly ever get any playtime Sad

I currently have 2 options for this build (old components sitting in my garage):

- Pentium 4 3.2GHz
- Gigabyte LGA775 Mobo (sorry, can't remember specific specs)
- 2GB DDR(1) RAM (Max the mobo can take)

OR

- AMD Athlon 64 2.6 GHz
- MSI K8N Neo Platinum Mobo
- 3GB DDR(1) RAM (Max the mobo can take)

and for both I have a 1TB HDD, 420 Watt PSU and a ThermalTake Soprano case to use.

Which of these options should I use as the base hardware for my system, and what hardware (i.e graphics card) should I add?

Games I'd like to play are:

New Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Galaxy 1&2
Wii Sports
Smash Bros Brawl
Rogue Squadron II&III

oops! just realized I posted in the wrong section!!

Neither. Both of those PC's are worthless for GC/Wii emulation. i5-2500k's work well. That was a funny joke, though.
Asus Laptop: K53TA
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-Bit - SP1

Wii is a machine
PC emulate that machine and run OS as well-> PC must be much stronger than that machine . Of course , it will cost a lot more than a wii
Pentium 4 and Athlon 64 would run dolphin like slow motion movie (10-30% speed) , don't even try it
PC that can run dolphin well usually cost around 500-2000 USD (depend on your budget)

Pentium G860 @ 3.0Ghz + Z68 mobo or Phenom II 965 @3.4ghz ; Nvidia GT 430 or AMD 6570 should be good enough for dolphin

Laptop: (Show Spoiler)
Clevo W230SS : 3200x1800 IPS | i7 4700MQ @ 3.6GHz (Intel XTU + Triple fan mod) | GTX 860M GDDR5 | 128GB Toshiba CFD SSD | 16GB DDR3L 1600MHz
Aspire 715 43G : 1080p 144Hz |  R5 5625U @ 4.3GHz | Nvidia RTX 3050 4GB | 500GB WD SSD  | 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
Mini PC :: (Show Spoiler)
G3258 @ 4.6GHz | ELSA GTX 750 | Asrock Z87E ITX | 600W SFX 80+ Gold Silverstone + SG06-LITE | Corsair Vengeance 8GB 2000MHz | Scythe Kozuti + Ao Kaze | 45TB 2.5" Ex HDD (in total) , Zelda Gold Wiimote , LE Wii Classic Controller , Gold LE PS3 DualShock , BlackWidow Chroma ,

you know that dolphin can run your games in 1080p++ with AA?
thats the only purpose of using dolphin... getting better graphic's than on crappy wii
