My old rig has died (the one in my sig) and I am sad..... but I am looking to build a new rig and want to know if you believe it can run most (if not all) games at full speed. I welcome any comments good or bad:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 3.5GHz (the goal is to OC it to between 4.3 and 4.5 GHz if possible)

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
NewEgg Link

Any thoughts or comments? I am willing to spend around $1500 USD on the entire rig because I do emulation of many systems (GC, Wii, PS2, DS, etc) so money is not a huge factor but I do want to stay within budget Smile

Seems like a pretty solid build.

My suggestion Radeon, and Intel don't work well with each other from past experiences. You may want to look at a Geforce, nothing too high end, but I just recently bought a GTX650 and it runs like a dream. Ram seems good, though make sure you get yourself a 500GB SDD at least, that way you can load Dolphin up a lot faster, as I find from other peoples testing, it works super smoothly. And make sure you have a good enough Power Supply 700Watt should be fine for that sort of machine, anyways, from other than that, I wish you luck.

Intel and radeon work fine together has more to do with motherboards compatibility.

If you like recording what you do, I would recommend the GTX 980, since Nvidia has Shadowplay, and if you ever want to go the route of Linux, Nvidia has better drivers

Any particular reason you're going with DDR3-1333 instead of 1600?

Really depends on what other kind of stuff you're wanting to do as well, because a GTX 980 could be up your alley as KH recommended. An R9 290x would also be better than what you've got listed but as is, it's still a damn solid build.

Sure smells like tax season Wink

Don't forget amd incorporated raptr so it can record gameplay also, its how I make my videos. Not an amd versus nvidia debate just saying that it can. Smile

Thanks All!

I went with AMD because, well, in the past I have had horrendous experiences with nVidia cards and swore never to return. The only issue with AMD is their drivers arent all that great.

I went with 1333 because from my research timing was more important than frequency on RAM and this RAM has very tight timings which should help with smooth performance. I would have loved to go with 2400 RAM but I could find anything with low enough timings (they were all 10 or 11 CAS)

You can get 1600MHz of the same memory you picked out with the same exact timings as the 1333 for only a few bucks more.

Honestly, anecdotal evidence is never the way to go. Plenty of people will say the same about AMD for the same reasons that you don't want to go with Nvidia. If you're going to stick with AMD though and can afford it, you should get a 290X because, why not? haha
