TO START , I AM NOT A SEASONED GNU/LINUX VETERAN:
Having said that, I followed along with the Ubuntu build instructions for Dolphin
( The latest DEV release at the time of posting this, unsure EXACTLY what the git channel gave me),
had a few troubles here or there but more or less figured out the process,
followed the steps to a T, got nearly the entire way through the build process with no issues ( finally ),
and when it came to the sudo make (-j4) part, everything seemed to be fine until it errored out right at the end.
The error message states as follows :
Error copying directory from "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/Qt5/../../../plugins/platforms" to "/home/<my_username>/.build/dolphin/Build/Binaries/platforms".
At first I assumed the error was caused by a lack of privilege,
judging from the fact that it was a copy operation between root folders or whatever,
however, I ran the make as superuser so I'm kind of at a loss.
It then proceeded as follows:
make[2]: *** [Source/Core/DolphinQt/CMakeFiles/dolphin-emu.dir/build.make:2909: Binaries/dolphin-emu] Error 1
make[2]: *** Deleting file 'Binaries/dolphin-emu'
make[1]: *** [CMakeFiles/Makefile2:1956: Source/Core/DolphinQt/CMakeFiles/dolphin-emu.dir/all] Error 2
make: *** [Makefile:156: all] Error 2
I've checked all around forums, the GitHub, google, etc to see if I could find ANYTHING about this kind of copy error,
maybe its something to do with the way Ubuntu ( in my case xfce fronted Xubuntu ) handles permissions, I have no clue.
Spent about 2+ hours on this already and just felt like I should post this somewhere to see if anyone has any pointers,
the build itself seemed to execute flawlessly without error, but the one issue I got was this.
Sorry if its something obvious I missed or something really basic,
I've used Ubuntu before and only recently converted my entire rig to it,
so I'm still a bit of a novice.
Also apologies if this isn't the correct place to ask about this,
checked the GitHub but couldn't figure out a way to raise an issue
( also wasn't sure if this was an id10t situation ),
so I decided to drop it here.
I think the build should go off without a hitch for the DEV branch,
but if anyone also knows of a less recent build that is more likely to work on Jammy, I'd appreciate it.
( The package manager just didn't have a Dolphin package whatsoever,
and upon research it seems that the latest Debian branches aren't packaged,
something along those lines, like I said, newb. )
Thanks for your time.
J.I.C the signature doesn't list my specs, idk:
