specs

latest dolphin - default settings
xp -latest patches
939 x2 4200
hd 5450

so i will be playing through a game and about 5 minutes in the game will hang and my monitor will either go black thinking theirs no input or i will get a bsod complaining about ati2dvag or ati will catch the error using vpu recovery. this happens on multiple games, but does not happen when doing other intensive work like playing hl2.

iv tried updating directx as well as my drivers but it does not seem to help.

any ideas?

your system is obviously unstable.

Emulator load cannot be compared to pc gaming load and an unstable system will be more readily exposed with an emulator.

I dont think this is the case. As i just tried to test my system to the max and it was fine. i ran 3dmark06 several times in a row, then two instance of superpi simultaneously and finaly superpi and 3dmark06 togther and my system was fine.

I have also used PCSX2 for about 30 before and i was fine.

I only get these crashes when using dolphin.
