What about trying to fully implement something like balanced brawl or brawl plus?
After getting the files replaced there are still the codes to fix various things. (some work) Has there been any progress in this area? My Wii's disk drive just died...

I understand Project M is of the same nature of a mod as Brawl+, but is the method for modding them in precisely the same or are there some differences that people should be aware of? Thanks Smile

EDIT: So, I was able to mod Project M in, except that some aspects are not working like they're supposed to (Air Dodging works, Physics mostly works, L-Canceling and Character selection do not). I was not sure where to place some files (C:\...\Project M\codes\RSBE01.gct, for example, although all files in C:\...\Project M\private has been placed), nor did I unlock everything in the unmodded Brawl. The title screen is the Project M load screen, and the textures work as well. Nor did I know whether to delete the other, unused, characters.

Can someone please help? Thank you Smile

Alright, I have attempted to use Brawl+ on dolphin. I did just about everything you said, I believe. When I open up the iso file after using wiiscrubber, I am able to get the "buffer" screen instead of the "wear the wrist thing" screen. However, when I enter into multiplayer mode, I don't get the Brawl+ character selection, but the regular SSBB selection. I don't know if I missed something, or did something wrong.

Considering how this post was from a year ago, could you attempt it with the Brawl+ Gold (new version) to see whether it works. Also, whether the Homebrew or No-Homebrew version is supposed to be used.
http://smashmods.com/forum/page/bpdownload.html

Could you also clarify on how to add Brawl+, instead of "To apply Brawl plus, follow some of the above steps, but only extract the partition...etc..."

Thanks

Great guide, testing now.

Also you did not explain, how can I add my own textures? Let's say I want to add this character: http://www.mediafire.com/?fcyl6qeh7331574

How do I do it?

I've gotten this to work perfectly, however I think it would be easier and faster to do it via SD card. Can't figure out how to get it to work. I've tried gecko, switching the disc to brawl, but I get this error
'this game requires IOS 36
IOS Not Found On Disc'

I'll try more later
If I can't get it to work I'm going to write a more clear guide on how to install hacks with WiiScrubber and partitionbuilder.

You said you gotten this to work perfectly. Did you mean you got the textures to work, or Brawl+?

I've found a much easier way than extracting, editing, creating, and replacing the data partition; that this guide tells you to do.
Doing that takes 30+ mins of wiscrubber/partitionbuilder working/waiting =/

Just replace the 'dummy1.dat' and 'dummy2.dat' files with an almost empty text doc, prob with any tiny file. Doing this should free up over 300 MB on the ISO!
If you do that you'll never get the error "unable to find free space to add the file"!! Which is very common

If you're replacing a very large number of files 20+ (especially all at once, very tedious work) maybe the partition method would be better for you, but I prefer directly editing the ISO every time!

As far as getting brawl+ to work, I have, but I only wanted the title menu, CSS (Character Selection Screen), stage expansion code, ect from brawl+, not the character/stage edits/ect

Download this version of brawl+
http://www.mediafire.com/file/o5mjn2mymzl/premadenohbc.exe

I formatted gekko codes from brawl+ for use with dolphin, that's how you get brawl+ working after all the file installs
http://www.mediafire.com/?61tnipa13k8gpbp

I still plan to write a better guide than this 1 sometime, but I'm still hacking Big Grin
Goin make a vid of my custom brawl once I'm finished, and I'll post it here Wink

For getting brawl+ to work, did you replace "dummy1.dat" and "dummy2.dat" files?
Or did you use the partition method?
Probably easier to just say this, how did you "install the files"?

How come we need to download the specific version of brawl+? Can't we just use the gekko codes you gave us? (all we have to do is just copy and paste ALL the codes, right?)

Replacing the dummy files just frees up space on the ISO so you can install hacks without running out of space for a long time, which happened to me after installing 2-3 hacks on a unedited iso >.>
That brawl+ I linked has more of the brawl+ files for some reason.

For a lot of the features of brawl+ you can just use the codes, but stuff like the little character edits, stage edits, ect. you have to install hack.
I'll be writing a guide in the coming weeks; 'SSB Brawl hacking guide for Dolphin'
I figured most of it out myself, you can prob. too before I make my guide if u try Wink

Apparently you can install stage hacks without having to replace original stages with the stage expansion hack, but I haven't got it working YET.
Also installing stages like this requires that you ADD files, not replace them, which is what I do for everything else via Wiiscrubber 1.4
Apparently there's a tool within wiitools 1.7 that can add files, looking into that now

So far I've installed over 40 hacks, and learned a lot about how brawl hacking works, haven't gotten into vertex hacking yet...but I've done some of my own textures, ect.

EDIT:
I just got the SD card working for file patching, using the file patch code 2.1a on dolphin!

I've been using iso hacking, and I still will, since the 2.1a code can't do everything the 3.5.1 code says it does(but it doesn't seem to work with Dolphin atm...)

here's the code dolphin formatted, should work on any recent revision

I've confirmed it does not however, allow you to use the 'stage expansion' codes, which let you add stages without replacing the originals.
It just crashes Dolphin for the testing I did.
I actually haven't gotten any of the stage expansion working, even with iso hacking with wiiscrubber/ect

P.S. I've started working on my guide, hope for something in the next week or so Wink

Okay.
I have recently reattempted to edit the data partition and apply Brawl+.
However, this time, using the files from the Brawl+ link, I had no success at all.

I could not load the file. After using WiiScrubber, I got a .img file and that wouldn't load. Even using WiiBackupManager and PowerISO failed to allow Dolphin to run the file.
Instead, Dolphin just froze and completely stopped responding. After waiting a good 10 mins or so, I just closed it using Task Manager.

I do not know whether I am placing the files in the wrong location, whether I should copy and replace the files, and such.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit. Dunno if that will help, but that might give some detail on how copying and replacing files work. >_>

Chaos, how's the guide working out?
Do you think you could also make a Video to go with your guide? Would help a lot of people.
