Bluetooth Adapter... sucks.. i cant think of a better title

If that didn't work and you also couldn't get Bluetooth Passthrough working (have you tried forcing the adapter?), then yes, the BT dongle you purchased is likely using an IC that doesn't play nice with Wiimotes.

Edit: oh, I remembered something important. Bluetooth 5.3 is fairly new and apart from some Wi-Fi + BT combo cards for laptops, I'm not aware of any standalone USB adapters using ICs from known brands (CSR/Qualcomm, Intel, Mediatek, Realtek, etc.). I've stumbled on a few chinese adapters using the ATS2851 SoC from Actions Semiconductors and yeah, those ones are terrible. The ATS2851 was designed for audio devices (headsets, BT speakers, etc.), not to work as a general purpose BT adapter, and as result, a lot of things don't work at all and sometimes you can't even find drivers for the bloody thing.

The TL;DR is to avoid those standalone USB adapters claiming Bluetooth 5.3 support, at least for now. You might have better luck with slightly older ones (e.g. BT 5.0, BT 4.2, etc.). I don't know if it's still available nowadays but the Orico BTA-403 performed exceptionally well with anything I've thrown at it, including Wiimotes...




it came in the mail, wiimote is visible, but it wants a PIN... i tried 1234 and 0000 to no avail.
