I get a black screen on the pixel 2 no matter the backend (even software!) but interestingly using the screenshot button and checking the output the game does seem to be rendering correctly...
Anyone else using Q?
Just for reference Pixel 2 is a Adreno 540 and the shipped driver revision is 512.380.0

Did this issue start with the beta 3 build or earlier? It could be video driver bugs with Android Q, though I can't say for sure.

Software backend means it's not driver causing this issue

Since I'm flashing all the things on my Pixel 2 right now trying to figure out my own bug (touch screen causing jitters in Vulkan), I'll now flash this Q beta and see if I experience the same issue you are.

I experience the same problem on Android Q beta 3.
I tried the store build and the most recent dev build, tried both OpenGL and Vulkan.
Screen is black, but on-screen controls work, I hear the sound.
Screenshot gave me a pic of the intro.

I'm just here to say the same thing is happening with me on my Pixel 2 XL on android q beta 3 and 4 (the new one). Vulkan/OpenGL does not matter. The sound plays and it seems like i can press buttons, but I can't see anything. I can't make it work. Tried with both GC and Wii. This should be elevated to a more serious issue as Dolphin is unusable in this state.

Dolphin currently doesn't work on the Android Q betas. Nothing will be done for now, though. If this black screen issue still happens on the final build of Android Q then the currently active devs are going to investigate.
