I don't know exactly what format it would be asked for me to post my hardware specs in, but I'm fairly confident my computer is good enough on a general level.

I'm trying to run the game Gladius, and everything seems to be going properly- until I actually loaded the game and just got a black screen.

I've been following numerous different instructions from random google posts about the 'Dolphin Black Screen', none of which have worked (and they make it a real chore by saying the specific thing I need to un/check but not where it's located).

Okay, question:

Is it normal for games in Dolphin to open with a black screen, and is there a standard way around it?

If not: can I get specific instructions on the game Gladius?

What are your hardware specs? CPU, RAM and GPU would be the most important to mention here.

I've never had a game open with a black screen, the wiki says to use the "MMU Speedhack" in order to boot the game. That is all I can suggest.

3 possibilities:
- As mentioned by Xeno Aura you can try to check "MMU Speed Hack" in Properties (right click your game to access this menu) although it shouldn't be useful in this game
- If you're using a pretty old version of Dolphin you might have to disable Dual Core (Config/General)
- If it still doesn't work then it's likely to come from your dump. you might wanna redump it

I keep seeing this term, what does that mean?

Dump? The dump is the copy of your game. Your dump may be corrupted for any reason so you may have to make another copy of your game (redump)
