best zelda game

I saw some english speakers saying "a la" (or the correct french form, "à la") so I guess it's something acceptable for the english language. It's funny because more and more english words are sneaking into french language, thanks to technology.

Yeah, I would definitively play a Zelda like this. Botw barely had a story, side quests didn't have something special and the world was classic af. The gameplay is interesting but it wasn't enough for me. I usually play 1 hour sessions and I didn't feel like I accomplished something after these, that was unsatisfying and thus boring for me.

. I keep reading all the time that there clearly is a group that absolutely loves the game (myself included) and another group that holds no interest for it because it is so boring. That is weird actually, since the game offers tons of content to go through. There seems to be no middle-road for it.

I see why people love it so much. I gave it several chances, hoping to find enjoyment everybody experiments. It just doesn't work with me I guess. There's a lot content, true, but I'm not able to be excited for it, I tried hard.

English typically doesn't like accent marks from any language. A lot of English words come from French, but over the long and complicated history of these two languages, English began to consider accents from borrowed words linguistic baggage. Accent marks just don't gel with English, especially ever since spoken English stopped being highly phonetic.

There are plenty of French words where the accent mark is also eliminated: naive, resume (re-zoo-may, not ree-zoom), a la, cafe, deja vu, fiance, cliche, facade, risque, and so on.

I have to agree with DrHouse64, BotW's story wasn't as strong as other Zelda games. Zelda herself has the most depth out of all her other appearances, but the story itself is short and relatively uncomplicated. And Ganon was disappointing as a villain this time around. No interesting back story like WW, TP, OoT. He's just Big Bad and that's it.

However, I think that was kind of the point Nintendo was trying to go for, back to the basics, not unlike the original LoZ on the NES. The story was barebones, and people had to focus on the adventure itself, the quest. You just knew Zelda was in trouble and Ganon was responsible, and you just went from there. BotW is like that; you're given a large task, and you have to carve your own way to success.

I still really liked BotW despite some nitpicking. Just finished it like 2 weeks ago. Brilliant game IMO. Shame it wasn't longer or bigger. Next open-world Zelda better be procedurally generated. Wink

Noooooo! Breath of the Wild was so amazing because so much effort was put into the world! Every inch of *everything* had something amazing to see and do! Procedural generation will just fill everything with boring sameness (minecraft) that's unfun and just filler. I much prefer a shorter and better game over a padding snorefest!

That said, I spent like 200 hours in breath of the wild, I think it's plenty long!

If you throw enough variables at it, anything procedurally generated can look uniquely crafted. I'm pretty sure people 10 or 20 years from now will think our current procedurally generated games are about as creative as random dungeon levels from old-school RPGs compared to what their next gen stuff looks like. Give it enough time, and it could work for LoZ.

Personally, I only put in about 50-60 hours (is there any way to check?). BotW is awesome, but I spent way more time killing robots in Horizon Zero Dawn last year (200+ hours).

Sorry, but I am against procedural generation. Filling the world with random content isn't that interesting when compared to a world that is handcrafted with an eye for detail. Having a lot to do is awesome, but it should be fun foremost. I don't think procedural generation will ever beat a handcrafted world. Sure, the technology for procedural generation will improve, but so will crafting a world manually. I hate random generated dungeons for a fact, most of the time they are just flat stuffed with some chests and monsters, no fun diversions at all *glares at Persona 4*.

Anyway, Breath of the Wild won the 21st DICE awards too which is well deserved. I am only sad to hear that Persona 5 didn't win the best RPG award... NieR:Automata wasn't that amazing of being a RPG... And it isn't even a RPG, it is more of the Action type...

thats not what i meant, what i mean is put a very large map, thousand of dungeons, thousand of villages,thousand of side quests, npc, items, mini games just like xenoblade where you can play thousand of hours.. not a game that you can finish in just less than 24 hours of gameplay..

it would be great if nintendo will release a zelda maker just like mario maker... it will also be great if zelda games will have a DLC dungeons

While it's true Botw is coming back to basics with a open world like Zelda I on NES, I can explore most of Zelda I map in 1 hour, and I think that's why I still have the feeling of control and satisfaction on this game. In terms of map length, I find OOT to be more 1:1 with Zelda I.
