Best option for short-range sensor bar?

I hope I'm not duplicating any existing threads - I did some something here and on other sites, but haven't found anything.

Is there a good option for a short-range sensor bar? I use my computer at a closer range than the Wii is designed for, so I don't think my remote will work from there. I've heard that using a bar with infrared lights close to each other reduces the distance at which it works, but I haven't seen any sensor bars for sale that seem like they would work well for a PC. Are there any available? Or will I need to make my own?

Like you said, the closer together the lights are the closer you can be to the sensor bar.
Only problem is that as far as I know there's plenty of sensors made to extent the range, but none for closer range so you might have to make your own like I did. Unless of course I was wrong about there not being close range sensor bars.

I made mine using this guide here, which worked out pretty well for me because (and I'm not sure if this is how the guy intended it to be made) I put the IR LEDs in two separate housings so I could set them any distance apart that I needed.
