Exactly, and such downscaled image should have no need for AA at all. Try 4x and No AA.

The quality resulting after downsampling depends on the downsampling filter used. And, really, our downsampling filter isn't the most sophisticated one. If done wrong, downsampling can lead to unwanted flickering and stuff. That's one of the reasons why mipmapping exists as well. |
