Hi, I'm looking to purchase a new gaming laptop and dolphin capability is among one of the more important things I am considering. Are there any specific gaming laptops the community recommends that can emulate nearly all of the gaming library at 720p (preferably 1080p)? Thanks.

This is the main one I am interested in:

Dell inspiron 15 7000 with 7th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ Quad Core (6MB Cache, up to 3.8 GHz).

That one is solid. Go for it.

And with all laptops, make sure you manage thermals well

Good to know, thanks.

What is your thoughts on the cheaper model 7th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-7300HQ Quad Core (6MB Cache, up to 3.5 GHz) ? Is there that much difference or is the upgrade not worth it as far as performance is concerned?

Also, I'm kind of hesitant because of the bad display on this one. Have any others you would recommend at a roughly similar price-point with better displays?

I can't speak to displays. I actually use 1080p TN displays and am quite happy. Perhaps somebody else can.

Looks like the only differences between the two models is the more expensive model includes more memory and an SSD alongside it's hard drive.

For Dolphin performance? This is entirely irrelevant. You're only going to care about RAM for Dolphin if you're running huge texture packs, and an SSD will show no perf improvement since HDDs are way faster than the Wii's DVD drive and we emulate disc timings.

For general computing things and actual PC games, both are nice to have. So it's a matter of what's more important to you. Also worth noting that both RAM and HDD are upgradable later if you so desire.

I see.

Another one I was looking at were the older models with the Intel Quad Core i7-6700HQ. They all offer 4k displays, which is a big bonus, but will there be much of a performance difference between this and the other ones listed earlier? Unfortunately, I just can't seem to get over the terrible display with the new inpsirons and the 4k option is just out of my range for the meantime.
