So the other day I was messing around with some snes/gba emulators, and I was curious if there is kind of a "Best filter or emulator" for playing 2d games in 2160p? I love a smooth look if that is any help. Id assume BZR would be a candidate, but I haven't seen a BZR filter past 2x so far. o.o
Best Emulators/filters for 2160p?

I just remembered that dolphin supports vc as well as up to 5x BZR. ![]() Problem kinda sorta somewhat solved? XD Will still need to know some snes/gba emus though. Im sure there are games I want to play not on VC. Actually I have a problem now. Q.Q In super metroid, I hit select to equip missles, but when I fire, missles deequip and a regular energy beam shoots out. Anyone know whats up? It kind of looks weird at times. Like the energy beam sprites animation across the screen looks like it's pausing and blinking to the next location instead of smootly going across the screen. Im getting a constant 60 fps. so idk whats up with that. 08-17-2016, 05:33 AM
When it comes to 2D games filters, everyone have their preferences.
Personally with 8 bits and 16 bits games, I don't like filters that heavily spread sprites like HQ, BZR, etc... even on a HD screen. I prefer playing without filters, or with filters like scanlines, soft linear filtering, CRT or old LCD effect. All that stuff which reminds me good old times. BTW, what do you think about integer scaling? Sure, it sacrifices fullscreen for perfect square pixels. But, if the upscaler algorithm is good enough, the final frame is still very close to the original, right?

Yeah, I'd agree that it comes to preference. I personally prefer to play without filters.

XD My bad. ![]() and I never gave integer scaling a try. XD Which emulators support it? 08-17-2016, 10:02 PM
Right now I can think of Higan (you don't have the choice on this one) and mgba but I'm sure there's plenty of other 2D emulators that supports integer scaling.
