Update here for anyone interested (apart from me!) on R5388 it no longer hangs for me on the codec, the fps is still bad but playable - the cut scenes are the worst but again tolerable! Has anyone ever found a way to fix the crackling sound? that is the most annoying part for me now!

Yeh, I fixed this game in r5378 so that it works in both JIT and JITIL. I also tried to fix the JITIL analog control problem but couldn't work out how. JIT does not have the control problem so that is the best option to use right now. JIT also does not have the slow-down problem on Windows XP.

Metal gear is now working perfect on r5391 - no graphical glitches so far (once its on Direct3D9 & enable EFB copy to RAM), no control issues at all, I mapped my Saitek using the Dolphin GCPad New. However my frame rate is appalling - can drop to 10 in cut scenes, 25 - 30 during gameplay actually LOOKS right so only the cut scenes remain the major problem. I'm using the PAL version so....the frame rate should be max 25 fps, vps max 50, is that right? 04-22-2010, 07:27 AM

I was playing around with the last dolphin version , and i get a 60 to 55 fps framerate in game on my i5 and GTX285m.
On the general panel I ve checked the enable dual core, enable open CL and used the jit recompiller. I used Open GL plug in let the resolution as native change the aspect ratio to wide screen ( i m in a laptop) uncheck all the other general options of the open gl, on the advanced i check disable destination alpha pass( this increase a lot the framerate) and used EFB to texture. OBs: if you check the disable material lighting the game ll run even better. I think that its possible to make it run better, and i ll try to improve more the settup. 08-16-2011, 03:14 AM
I use dolphin 3.0 release (best so far) but it used to hang in the cutscenes.
I tried the advice of some guy who posted setting fps limit to avoid the cutscene crashes, YES! its the only solution that works for now. I set the fps limit to 30fps and no more crashes both i codec and cutscenes. I noticed the movies tend to crash when the sound looses sync, the fps limit avoids sound out of syc sound so far.... Ps the only reason i signed up for this forum was to share this. |
