I have no Idea why Dolphin is running so poorly. 02-09-2017, 06:31 PM

Latest and greatest. Directly from Nvidia through Geforce Experience. Oh cool, I thought that D3D12 or Vulkan would be better for Performance and Quality. Since I always used D3D11 back with Dolphin 4.0 on my old Gaming Rig (GTX 780ti Superclocked, and a i7 970 4.7 ghz Overclocked) . Let me switch to OpenGL input the graphics options and do a test run. I'll report back then. 02-09-2017, 06:48 PM

Okay, so I switched from d3d12 to opengl and with 3x IR and 2x SSAA I got the same result as the others. Plus more ghosting with Skyward Sword. It won't even keep at a steady 30fps. This sucks. I see these YouTube videos from like 4 years ago with people running Skyward Sword on Dolphin with 6x IR and 8x AA and still maintaining a steady 30fps. With my current situation whenever something big happens on screen or the scene changes/transitions I get lag and slowdown. With just 3xIR and 2x SSAA. I'd just turn of 2x SSAA and do 5x IR instead but at 5x IR it ruins the Watercolor DOF that Skyward Sword has making it look extremely pixelated and checkerboard like. I have no idea what to do. Ishiiruka 890 build worked flawlessly for graphics but the audio sounded horrible with constant static and crackle. (I even tried to copy over the Nightly Dolphin's audio plugins to Ishiiruka to see if that would help but I couldn't figure out how to do it. 02-09-2017, 08:25 PM

I tried Zelda SS on ishiiruka a few month ago , i didn't have any problem with the audio Quote:Okay, so I switched from d3d12 to opengl and with 3x IR and 2x SSAA I got the same result as the others.Your GTX 980ti might be at idle mode Try this : Laptop: Mini PC :: 02-09-2017, 09:11 PM
Right! I forgot about that! It definitely sounds like your 980Ti is in low performance mode! Your 980 should be able to handle 3x native with SSAA!

Thanks for the advice about Ishiiruka, I'm currently going back through their old versions to find one that works and sounds good but so far, no luck as all of them have a constant audio crackle. Funnily enough I downloaded a 3.5 version of Dolphin and it ran everything fine and sounded fine at 4x IR and 8 AA. Of course, there were a lot of Graphical Glitches and it crashed a couple of times but I'm still amazed that the older version performed better than the newer one. I know, this is what's so baffling to me. I've never seen anything like this before. My old computer which had a 780ti and a i7 970 4.7ghz ran Skyward Sword and Dolphin Better then my new computer (Which has better more powerful parts.) (02-09-2017, 06:25 PM)CommandBen Wrote: Wow.. If anything I think Dolphin is under utilizing my CPU. That's because Dolphin uses two hard working threads. A CPU emulation thread and a GPU emulation thread. This was the only reasonable way to get the benefits of "multicore" without making things wildly inaccurate or just slower. However, it's a bit of a hack. It might be bugged for you. I recommend the following

I can now run Skyward Sword at a steady 30fps with 3x IR and 8x SSAA, using the Vulkan backend (With multi-threading enabled) I just have a two final questions if you don't mind. 1. Which Audio Engine should I use? (DSP HLE, DSP LLE Recompiler, DSP LLE interpreter)
Thanks again for all your help! |
