At least for me it's. Was the first console I had, my father didn't like games and I had my first videogame when I was a teen.
PC: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / GTX 660 2GB / 16GB DDR4 3600MHz / Windows 10 Pro

Phones: Poco F3 8/256GB (Snapdragon 870 5G) and Redmi Note 6 Pro 4/64GB (Snapdragon 636)

The PlayStation 2 never mattered, we already know the NES, SNES or Nintendo 64 are among the best. The original GameBoy does not count, it is not a console after all...

Still weird enough, the PlayStation sold more than it's direct competitor: The Nintendo 64. Nah, it's not that weird after all. The Nintendo 64 used cartridges which were by then an outdated format for storage, reliable and fast but extremely limited in storage capacity. The PlayStation attracted more developers thanks to the massive storage capacity (back then) through DVD discs. Nintendo repeated the same mistake with the GameCube, those mini-discs were only good for 1.5 GB's of storage while the 4.7 GB's of a DVD disc where the new standard.

I cast my vote to the Nintendo 64. The first time I played Super Mario 64 I was completely blow away by it's 3D world. Keep in mind back then the standard was 2D games, so having an outstanding 3D would have blown you mind away. Not only did Nintendo it once, it even repeated their 3D success with Ocarina of Time.

Another console war thread \o/
I'll rate from 5 stars

Playstation 2 :
- Raw Power ** : Really weak against competitors. Barely beats Dreamcast on some aspects.
- Hardware **** : Has a DVD player and built in usb and ethernet ports.
- Library ***** : The number of games available is insane, every game style is represented.
- Exclusive Masterpieces **** : Lots of very good games. Metal Gear Solid 3. Do I need to say more ?
- Pad *** : Not much to say, the Dualshock 2 is good. Only 2 players.

Overall : 18/25 stars

Nintendo 64 :
- Raw Power ***** : Back in the day, it was the most advanced 3D console available.
- Hardware *** : Cartridges may not have much storage, but loading times are unbeatable. Foggy antialiasing, and Lacks RGB output.
- Library ** : Really poor 3rd party support. Where are the JRPGs ?
- Exclusive Masterpieces ***** : SM64 and OOT both redefined their own genres. Goldeneye proved that console can also bring excellent FPS.
- Pad *** : Odd but revolutionary pad with a unique analog stick. Up to 4 players for infinite fun on MK64, Goldeneye, Mario Party, Smash...

Overall : 18/25 stars

Well, it's a draw for me.
But N64 is still the console of my heart.
From France with love.
Laptop ROG : W10 / Ryzen 7 4800HS @2.9 GHz (4.2 GHz Turbo disabled unless necessary for better thermals) / 16 Go DDR4 / RTX 2060 MaxQ (6 Go GDDR6)

PS2 gave us the original Kingdom Hearts, so it will always be the best in my books Tongue

I guess only the PS2's CPU is weak, the GPU is powerful, VRAM brandwidth was very fast for its age, that's the reason for graphic effects such as reflection be better compared to its competitors in multi-plataform games (we can see it clearly in NFS games, also GTA SA). Xbox games generally had better textures, Game Cube textures are very ugly when we upscale the game, maybe due to low disc space limitation, but both have better CPU than PS2.

Well, I've begun with GameCube personally. So I'll stick with GameCube as favourite console (and just for Super Smash Bros Melee, The Wind Waker, TimeSplitters and MK Double Dash, that's enough fr me)!

I'll also put a vote in for GameCube. That console definitely had the best games; I'm not saying things have gone to shit since or anything, but the design philosophy behind many GC games still remains possibly the best today.
