Is the graphical enhancements in Dolpin solely GPU dependent, or does the CPU have some saying in what resolution/AA/AF you can run your games in? If it's solely GPU dependent, what GPU would be the best then? A 7970 or 780? Right now, I have a 7950, but MKBig GrinD lags on 4x internal resolution and 2x SSAA.

Yes, it's purely gpu dependent. The best gpu then would be a gtx titan or 690. But a 780 would be a great fit for a few hundred cheaper considering it's close to titan performance.

i wouldn't buy a multigpu, gtx 690 is just to useless on dolphin but great for pc games like crysis 3, ( I HATE MICROSTUTTERING )

bought the GTX 780 Windforce oc edition and overclocked it to the max, fanspeed always @100% 65-66C temp

Super Mario Galaxy 2 @ 3840x2160 without any AA < 110fps, on the first level, i got something like 91-100fps

I honestly didn't know that a 690 is half useless in dolphin. Sorry about that 23732. I figured since it's on the same pci-e lane it wouldn't be like an sli bridge, but rather it's own card.

No problem, when i bought a Multigpu ( ATI 4870X2 ), i was thinking like you, the second gpu is just sleeping in dolphin and not using the second gpu core, its just 0% usage, so gtx 690 is using only the half performance of the graphic card. Smile

Thanks for good replies everyone. I've noticed that the Direct3D11 performance in Dolphin is really bad, so I am only using Direct3D9, which gives me great performance with graphical enhancements.

I am building a HTPC to use with Dolphin, and I am going for a 7850, which is a great card for budget.

Make sure your gpu isn't throttling when using d3d11.

this depends on which games are you playing, DX11 gives much better performance in some games or OpenGL also. Smile

edit: i've got better performance in fzero GX with OpenGL than with d3d9 or d3d11

It also depends on what GPU architecture you have. The latest AMD cards are known to have serious performance issues with d3d11 compared to other cards. And they are known to throttle which can make it worse.
