So i have been testing emulators on TV with steamlink, and my conclusion was the its a bad solution. So what I'm trying to do instead is that buy a gamebox with android and then download the android version of dolphin so I can play my GC games on my TV. My question is, which is the best? I have seen people using nvidia shield and amazon fire tv but I also note that there are plenty of choices. Also, how well does the android version of dolphin work?

Shield TV.

And nvidia gamestream or steam home streaming is the best solution for Dolphin on your TV without just hooking your PC up to it. The Shield TV only plays a handful of games really well, with the rest being pretty laggy.

As far as the Android version of Dolphin is concerned, Shield TV currently is your only option. OUYA doesn't even meet the requirements, so Dolphin wouldn't even install on it...

Nothing except for Shield TV meet the requirements. The Ouya is barely even fast enough for Dreamcast or N64 emulation, so don't even start about Gamecube.
The Nexus Player might be able to handle Dolphin, CPU is a 64bit X86 but the GPU might be bottlenecking.

You're better off with a PC.
You could build a Mini PC with a Pentium G or something similar that could handle quite a few games at full speed.

Android version doesn't have a x86 JIT yet because Dolphin currently lacks PIE support. In other words, assuming Dolphin would install on Nexus Player, it would run the ARM JIT on top of a translation layer to x86, severely degrading Dolphin performance. Also, there's no known ARM64 => x86_64 layer yet, so, Dolphin probably would just refuse to install...

I'm pretty sure the Nexus Player runs 32-bit Android, so it's unsupported.
