My system specs:
GTX 580
i7 2600K @ 3.4 GHz
7500 rpm Seagate SATA 3.0 HDD (separate from system drive for game installations)
Onboard sound, Realtek drivers
I'm trying to figure out which of these things is holding Dolphin back; I'm getting stuttering in some games, some during cutscenes, some during gameplay. Super Smash Bros. Melee, for instance, has occasional hiccups but tends to stutter greatly at the beginning of every match. I noticed that by setting the audio to DSound, the stuttering was greatly reduced but not eliminated. I have a pretty rudimentary sound setup (onboard), but I can't imagine why the audio would be causing these issues.
At any rate, I'm looking for suggestions on appropriate testing software that I can use to see which parts of my system are living up to their potential. I'm particularly concerned about the hard drive speed.
