Oops. If you read my previous response I forgot what CPU we were talking about. That is way to hot for phenom ii.

You have a temp average of 78.5 degrees, wich is way too hot like xalphenos said. Speed up your fans if your PC allows that, or just buy a new cooler.

Seconded. Much too hot. It may be throttling your frequency.
Get some arctic silver or similar high-end thermal paste. Shut your computer down and unplug. Eliminate any dust from the case and heatsink with a can of compressed air and a vacuum cleaner. Remove the heatsink and CPU and clean the top of your CPU with rubbing alcohol and a washcloth. Get rid of all of the thermal paste. Do the same on the heatsink. Re-insert your CPU. Apply the new thermal paste (about the size of a small pea) to the CPU. Replace your heatsink and reconnect the fan. You'll probably see a drop of at least 10C. If that's not enough, get a nice aftermarket cooler like the Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO. You can overclock with that cooling if your board supports it. 09-24-2013, 02:59 AM
Let your CPU run at it's normal speed for now until you get your heat issues sorted out.
tl;dr: Stop overclocking.

Thank you all for the responses, I knew it was something else, haha. I was right about that magic force.
I will do what rokclimb15 said. But I'll have to wait till Thursday to do that. Then I'll comment here the results. 09-24-2013, 09:00 AM
Looks like your OC is throttling back down to stock speeds ironically. You're still not going to see that much improvement though. Just warning you.

Ok, the problem was the thermal paste.
Now Xenoblade and Dragon Quest run always at full speed. However, Super Mario Galaxy runs at 45-60 FPS. And Twilight Princess runs at full speed in some areas, but at 20 FPS in hyrule field. Still, I'm really happy with the results, the framerate increased a lot. Thank you all! 09-28-2013, 05:59 AM
That's typical. What's your actual clock speed now during gaming? Hyrule Field really can't be fixed IMHO. You might be able to improve SMG in some places with additional overclock. What are your vcore settings?
I run a Phenom II X4 965 @ 3.4GHz (Stock speed) and it runs most games at full speed.
Only exception that I've tried is Super Smash Bros. it sometimes drops to 50FPS when a lot things happen at once. Games like the 2 Zelda (GC) games run well for me, although I haven't done extensive testing, and haven't visited Hyrule Field on TP. Haven't tried any Wii games yet either. For an AMD, you'll want to stay below 60C when playing a game really, mine maxes out at about 45C when I'm emulating a game. For games that run at 60FPS, you can try the PAL version, as it'll only have to emulate it at 50FPS, which should improve performance. |
