Assuming you aren't doing anything exotic with the MMU, "Invalid Read" indicates the game crashed (think SIGSEGV). You can turn on the "Enable MMU" option in the game properties to get it to react more like a Wii would, but that probably won't help in this case.
There is a known bug involving Dolphin's JIT and certain Mario Kart Wii mods where the JIT caches code too aggressively; you can check if you're running into that using Interpreter mode. Otherwise, I would guess it's a bug in your code.
