Would it be possible to implement automatic Wiimmfi patching so you don't have to hard-patch each game, similar to what USB Loader GX does on a real Wii? You can currently use the Wiimmfi Patcher homebrew app in Dolphin, but it only works for disc-based games, and I don't think you can use things like Gecko codes and texture packs alongside it (though I may be wrong about that, haven't tested it).

Auto Wiimmfi patching

I haven't tested it either but I would be surprised if Dolphin managed to apply cheat codes to a game that's started through the Auto Wiimmfi Patcher homebrew.
I suppose one could add a feature that tries to patch the running game for Wiimmfi, but the question for me was "is it worth itt to spend time implementing this". Dolphin users already need to do a bunch of setup (like creating and importing a NAND backup from an actual Wii or WiiU console), that additional image patching step doesn't really hurt. So the only advantage would be that you wouldn't need to keep one unpatched copy (to archive the original) and one patched copy (to play online) around. I'm not against such a feature, I just personally don't have the time to implement it. It could maybe even be combined with a couple checks to let the user know that ne still needs to import a legit NAND. |
