Try with HLE first. If the sound is broken in audiodump.wav with HLE, try with LLE. Report both results (HLE and LLE).

I will be testing this tomorrow. I will report my results from LLE. I do not get the issue using HLE.

Update,

I do have the static in the dumped wav file using these settings:
3.5
Wind Waker - U
LLE XAudio
No LLE on Trhead

Hope this helps!

Let me know if you need any more info.

Ok, if someone gets the issue with HLE: please do the same test (enable audio dumping, and check if the static is in audiodump.wav).

I was bound and determined to see this through. It appears that I CAN get it to happen with HLE but it takes MUCH longer. The earliest I could get it to occur was 2.5 hours...but it DID happen and was indeed in the dumped wav file.

Baten Kaitos - U

AX-HLE
XAudio
No Dedicated Thread Audio

Hoping someone else can confirm this because I know quite a few ppl have been encountering it.

**Quick note: For those wondering why I didn't use the same game for both tests: WW doesn't play nicely with HLE in many respects and I wanted to avoid crashes/wasted time.

Why didn't I just play Baten Kaitos for both? Well, I was actually about to play WW when I read delroth's request and dammit my mind was made up...lol Smile

I can confirm the same.

HLE takes longer to show static.

LLE happens on 1.40-2hs

Tested gc emulation only (with wav dump)

Hw. Tested: i5, i7, 7950, 7970, z77 chipset. All configs show the same problem.

I had this issue a long time ago and thought it was a problem of my system. I played Tales of Symphonia with OpenAL and Decicated thread and HLE. I tested it again with the newest Dolphin-version(3.5-1575). The sound was perfect, but after 1:30h, the sound becomes instable. I have dumped this and compressed the point, after the sound becomes instable. But i have no provider to upload this soundfile. Its has 12Mb for 13 minutes. Can someone help me to upload this file?

I am not 100% sure that they want the file. delroth wanted to know if the sound anomaly was indeed in the dumped wav file. Three of us (so far) have confirmed that this is indeed the case. I think we are just waiting to see if the devs/delroth need any further information Smile

Yep, I dont think devs needs the audiofile, but in case you want to upload for other users to check if they are having the same tyoe of static, you could use mirrorcreator.com/

Please don't use DSP on a dedicated thread with HLE. It was a terrible idea to add this option, the performance improvements are insignificant and it causes stability issues/audio glitches. I'm actually planning to remove it as soon as I find the time to do it.

Just to check that I reproduced the right issue: does the problem sound like http://delroth.net/static-issue.wav ?
